Best 2 Person Camping Hammock Reviews

Best 2 Person Camping Hammock Reviews

Hammock camping can be one of the most enjoyable forms of outdoor adventure. But when two people want to share the same hammock, things can become a tad overcrowded.

So what are the best 2 person camping hammocks available?. Spoiler Alert: The Clark Vertex is my #1 pick for a hammock to be shared by two persons.

This is what we aim to present with these two person hammock reviews. Some people may argue that the only good two person hammock for camping is just that. 2 x hammocks. Having two people share one hammock can be very squishy.

Whenever the other person moves, you pretty much feel the impact. Bodies are squished together to make one super size body. There are plenty of double size camping hammocks out there, but not everyone likes to feel scrunched up on top of each other.

The Hammock Options A Couple Has

The solution to this, if you don’t like feeling squished, can be found below. It’s going to blow your socks off!.

For others, it’s considered a romantic getaway to sleep in the same hammock as their loved one. The thought of two bodies laying next to each other, while forgetting about the day to day hassles known as life, is the perfect getaway. Plus the benefits of remaining warm during the colder nights in close quarters with your loved one. Nothing like a bit of body heat to keep the winter chills away. But be warned, if you like your own personal sleeping space, you’re not going to get it here!.

The Other option is two have two single hammocks and set them up next to each other. In the perfect world you would find 2 x 2 tress next to each other so that you can set up the hammock side by side.

But in reality that’s not always an option. So the solution to this is you both use the same two trees. Just set one hammock up lower than the second hammock. This way you are still sleeping in close proximity of your partner. It’s not as crazy as it sounds, many people have success doing it this way as you can see on these forums.

Most Comfortable Two Person Camping Hammock

Once you’ve been hammock camping, it’s extremely hard to go go back to regular camping beds. But times have changed, you now have a partner that you love dearly. But you want her/him to also experience the joys of hammock camping while being able to hold hands at night without squashing your new found friend.

Whats the solution?.

Most Comfortable Two Person Camping Hammock

The answer is simple: Clark Vertex 2 person hotel suite, oh I meant hammock. But it sure does feel like you’re sleeping in one of the best beds in the world on this hammock.

It’s unique, so much so it’s probably the only comfortable double hammock where you don’t have to lay on top of each all night long. With this hammock you get two separate sleeping zones under the one insect proof 1200 hole per square inch netting.

That’s right, one super sized hammock fit for a camping Kings Or Queens. Each side of the hammock is built on it’s own suspension system so that when you move, you don’t shake the hammock and wake up your partner. Quite incredible really, without a doubt the best camping invention I’ve come a cross for a long time.

A Few Facts About The Clark Vertex 2 Person Hammock

  • Combined weight capacity of 700 lbs.
  • Recommended individual height of 75 inches (6.25 Feet tall).
  • Weighs just 5.1lbs. Weight can be split between two users for backpacking light.
  • Comes with a no see um insect netting and nylon enclosure. There is a rain fly designed for the Clark Vertex, but it is sold separately to keep the price lower for those that don’t want the fly.
  • Comes with poles, carry bag, ropes, manual and aluminum drip rings that you use as the suspension system.

It’s The Hammock Couples Dream Of

So maybe you don’t dream about hammocks, but you will certainly be dreaming on the inside of the Clark Vertex. With the exception of the rain fly, this hammock has everything you need to go camping or back packing immediately.

If you don’t like the ropes that come with the hammock you can substitute them out for your own gear. However, this is not advised by Clark Vertex unless you’re a seasoned hammock camper.

The reason for this is that the Clack Vertex lines are waterproof and don’t stretch as much. While also having a thicker stature so that you can tie the hammock directly to a tree using the aluminum drip rings to adjust the suspension level of the hammock.

Overall Thoughts

My overall opinion of the Clark Vertex is that you won’t find anything better that offers the benefits of hammock camping, but for two people in the same set up. It’s great how they kept the rain fly separate to lower the price for those that sleep under their own tarp.

Being able to tie directly to a tree without using webbing straps is a huge bonus. While you can use tree straps as well to connect your lines, if the unthinkable happens you can still hang the hammock directly to the tree. Nice back up plan. The only real negative is that it is a little pricey. But I guess that’s what you pay for the comfort of a true two person hammock.

Best 2 Person Hammock For Camping – Trek Light Gear Review

Best 2 Person Hammock For Camping

Back in the day, Trek Light Gear were the pioneers in regards to lightweight hammocks. This double sized hammock is no exception. As Trek Light Gear have been doing this for 15 years now, I’m confident in saying that they know what they are doing.

So this hammock is a oversized double. Meaning it’s big enough to fit a king, or two persons. You decide?.

Made form high quality parachute nylon build to withstand 400 pounds of weight, you can feel safe getting in and out of this hammock. Even with a bit of rough movement inside the hammock, this thing doesn’t budge.

This is down to the design of the hammock. It’s 10 foot long and 6.5 foot wide. But the stability comes from not having spreader bars. These spreader bars are what make people fear a hammock. They are unreliable and can cause you to tip the hammock over at any moment.

But the good news is, this Trek Light Gear doesn’t use spreader bars, nor is it a rope style hammock that can dig into you. It’s super comfortable and spacious breathable hammock. However, if you are use to the spreader bar style, it may take a few attempts to get use to this banana style of a hammock.

The Juicy Details

  • Weighs just 1 pound and is the size of half a nerf ball. Incredibly light and compact.
  • Extremely versatile. You can hang this hammock anywhere you can get an anchor; trees, cars poles etc.
  • Can be used in a hammock stand for greater options on where it can be hung. Try it out on the Ceara Stand by Byer Of Maine for a great nights sleep.
  • This model does come with tree ropes but you can buy the version without ropes if you have your own. Save a few bucks here!.

The Bottom Line

Simply put it’s a great reliable and strong double hammock. Claimed to be the biggest on the market for a double (Do your own due diligence here), it’s a great fit for two people that want to camp in the same hammock.

At a reasonable price, you can afford to get any ‘add ons such as a hammock net‘ you may need to complete the camping experience. Made by a trusted brand for well over a decade now, you cant not have a look at Trek Light Gear.

I'd say a 2 person hammock is still going to feel pretty cramped, just the way the sides of the hammock wrap around you. Still, the 2 person one sounds like a good idea for sure, and not just for camping. You could even hang one out in the yard or on the veranda.

The Clark Vertex you recommend looks like it has a cool design to help you get a bit more space and not be so squashed up all the time. It's almost like a tent and a hammock combined. Great idea.

Yes Darren, but that will always be the case with laying in a hammock. You can even lay slightly diagonal in this hammock so that you get a more flatter sleeping position.

This hammock is the best for couples who like to go on adventures...this is convenient as one can carry it alone, and really looks comfortable too.

Do you recommend it price-wise too? Thanks for the juicy review. I'm only looking for a sleeping sack I can carry out when camping but might get this instead. :)

Hi Marie, it is a bit expensive for some new campers. You can check the price on the relevant links above. However, seasoned hammock campers know just how important a high quality hammock is, and being an actual two person designed hammock, there is no real other option. So it would greatly depend on how dearly you need you little bit of space, yet still laying in the same hammock with your loved one without having to feel like a sardine in a tin.

This looks really comfortable. I haven't been on a hammock for so long. :D I find that the features you mentioned make this hammock really worth it, reliable, affordable, and most of all, keeps one safe from outdoor bites (insects). Thanks for the review.

I agree Marie, hammocks with the build in insect protection system are a must if camping in mosquito known zones. During the cooler months you can simply flip over the hammock so the bug net is not in your way. Really good idea. Thanks for stopping by.
