While we all know that creepy crawlers exist and have only a small % of chance to get into bed with us, my Wife is still paranoid as all heck about them. So this Coleman camping air bed was a good compromise to get her out in the wilderness more often.
- The battery powered pump was a huge reassurance. Knowing that if we have plenty of D size batteries, we would never have to sleep on the deck in a deflated mattress again.
Because this is only a single level mattress and isn’t double raised, it may come off more firmer. Which for us is how we like it. It’s still a very comfortable air mattress. From going through the cycle of camping sleeping phases; sleeping bag, foam, to cheap air mattresses and now to off the ground air beds. We can easily say that this Coleman is by far the best we have used for camping.
The bed frame itself can handle some good ole fashioned heavy duty use as well. It’s built to hold 2 pretty plump campers. It has a total weight capacity of 600 pounds and you can see how heavy duty this air mattress is just by taking a quick look at the frame work. Not too squeaky either.
I’m also a fan of the little side tables with the camping chair style of cup holders. However from the many amazon consumer reviews I read, it appears as tho the Air Tight System seems to work extremely well for many folks, so it’s not just a once off luck of the draw scenario.
The mattress comes with a ‘wrap and roll’ carry bag. I’ve used many of these before and for lots of them, it’s being like trying to wrestle a Alligator to get the air mattress to fit back in the bag. But this Coleman bag must be that bit bigger to make packing away that much easier and more space saving in the car.

Hello, You really cleared up a lot of things for me. It’s really hard to find proper info about air mattresses that isn’t just some commercially sponsored blurb. I’ve been looking for a good mattress. I’ll be shifting to Tulsa around New Year’s and I’m throwing out the old Spring mattress cause i think it’s lived its life. Is there a affordable brand you recommend? I’m really set on Memory Foam mattresses, but the ones with the cooling gel things get a bit expensive. I have mild spondylitis and so a good mattress is really crucial. If you have a recommendation for pillows, I’d be willing to listen to that as well. Thank you Janna Jamieson

Unfortunately finding pure comfort usually comes at a cost, so inexpensive air mattresses are not going to be of much assistance for you. The best of the best air mattresses are not for camping, but are better suited to the home as they are fully adjustable to cater to any body shape and or injury etc.

This is wonderful information, as I am currently saving for a real and comfortable beds i have looked to air mattresses, i did not know there was air mattress bed holders! also one thing i found a solution too that might help others is what to do if you have pets? Put a foam top on it and over the edges!

People decide to use air mattresses as an everyday bed for various reasons. I think will the increase in technology and quality, more and more people are using air beds as a form of relieving back pains or recovering from injuries. While some air mattresses are quite thick and puncture resistant, I would still recommend equipping some sort of protector if you intend Dogs or Cats to be on the bed. Thanks for visiting.
